+ Some Unique Clearlight Infrared Sauna Accessories

Different saunas come with different accessories. Some companies supply you with towels, a sauna hat, and other stuff.

In this blog post, I want to explore all those infrared sauna accessories. I'll first go over some common accessories you can expect when buying a sauna, and then consider some unique options that Clearlight offers you. Let's go:
In this section, I describe some common far infrared sauna accessories, which you may get with a full-spectrum infrared sauna as well. First up, some common accessories on the market:
Many infrared sauna companies offer one or multiple free towels with each infrared sauna order. The benefit of these towels is that they're usually much bigger and thicker than normal towels so that they're able to absorb more sweat during a sauna session. The goal of these towels is to give you the same feeling as if you were visiting a spa.
Towels are nice as a gesture and great for enhancing your sauna experience by allowing you to remove sweat during your sessions. Having said that, many people already have towels so they don't need more of them. Moving on to the second accessory:
A relaxing ergonomic backrest makes a lot of sense, right? What better way to come to complete relaxation than by having a backrest that perfectly fits your posture?

A backrest is a very highly recommended accessory that is also offered by Clearlight.
Next up, another common sauna addon:
Some saunas offer ionisers as an accessory. In theory, these devices can help clean the air from tiny particles subsumed therein (air pollutants) and bacteria.
The reason I don't recommend an ioniser at Clearlight is that these devices can give off ozone. Ozone - while often used in clinical settings - is not fully benign (1, 2).
My recommendation is that if you do have a sauna with ionisers? Only run the ioniser when you're not inside the sauna, and after running the device, ventilate very well. With that strategy, you dramatically reduce your risk of impeding your health.
Also, if the air in your house is polluted, just buy a high-quality air purifier and let it run throughout the day. A dedicated air purifier will do a much more thorough job than a single ioniser inside the sauna.
Moving to the next accessory:
Many people enjoy listening to relaxing music during a sauna session. For that reason, many of the premium sauna company brands have included a speaker system into their (infrared) saunas.
Me and my company have gone the extra mile by adding speakers with a Bluetooth function, that can be turned on and off whenever you want to. The benefit of that ability to turn the Bluetooth off is that you can eliminate EMF exposure if you want to.
The amount of EMF exposure from Bluetooth in our sauna is also lower than when you're using a cell phone close to your body, so the overall exposure is very safe. Again, however, if you want zero exposure you can always turn it off. For some people though, relaxing is impossible without great music, which is why every one of our saunas has a speaker system.
Next up, another common and nice accessory:
The aim of a sauna hat is to protect your hair from extreme heat in a sauna.
However, overheating your head and hair is much less of a risk in a Clearlight sauna because we've positioned the heater panels in such a way that they only target your torso, legs, and arms -- never your head.
The reason for this choice is that your head is the weakest link in the goal of raising your body's core temperature. Your head (and thus brain) will have problems tolerating heat way before the rest of your body does. By keeping your head cool, the problem is averted.
Still, a sauna hat is quite nice and does especially please some of the women. Of course, if you're fearful about your hair, you can also use a towel around your hair. Then, lastly, these accessories exist:
Lastly, some companies offer different accessories such as a foot bench for while you're sitting in a sauna, aromatherapy gadgets, or a brush for stimulating lymph drainage.
Clearlight also offers aromatherapy but as a professional addon, with specific guidelines for in-sauna use. Aromatherapy refers to using essential oils to stimulate your olfactory system. Many of the essential oils used in aromatherapy, such as citrus or peppermint, don't just smell nice but also affect your health in general.
For instance, by entering your airways, peppermint can have a stimulating and energising effect.

Moving on to another game-changer:

Red light therapy uses both red and near infrared light that are also emitted by the sun. Chromotherapy allows you to use different colours of the visible light spectrum, such as blue, green, yellow, and orange. These colours affect you psychologically.
For instance, blue light improves relaxation and is calming. Red light stimulates and invigorates. While many scientists have been skeptical about chromotherapy for many decades, recently some studies have emerged showing effects of the exposure to different types of light (19; 20; 21).
Green light can lower the intensity of allergies, blue light can reduce sleep disturbances at night, and red and green light can improve cognitive performance more than mixed white light.
